The Privacy and Access to Information Office in the Office of the General Counsel is responsible for the university’s compliance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) and its Privacy and Access to Information portfolios. The work of the Privacy and Access to Information Office is carried out by the Chief Privacy Officer and Legal Counsel (CPO), an Access Officer, a Privacy and Access Officer, and an Administrative Assistant and Privacy Training Coordinator. The Privacy and Access to Information Office processes all FOI Access Requests submitted to UVic and is a resource for the university community and the public on privacy and access to information at the university.

To fill the upcoming vacancy of Access Officer, we are seeking an experienced and motivated access to information professional with expertise in managing, processing, and advising on access to information requests. The ideal candidate will also have experience in privacy and/or information management, and a degree in a related field. This position reports to the CPO and regularly interacts with university units and senior leadership, in addition to members of the public and third-party organizations.

The salary range for this position is:

Recruitment range: $70,223 – $87,779 maximum starting salary is determined through knowledge, experience, and internal equity.

Performance range: starting salary to max of $100,945 is available through annual performance increases.

An employee in this classification is excluded from the bargaining unit as defined in the Labour Relations Code.
